Frequently Asked Questions

What is Teletherapy?

Teletherapy is traditional talk therapy provided by a licensed therapist much like traditional face-to-face sessions. Virtual sessions will occur in real time, much like FaceTime or Zoom by using your computer or mobile device, which offers flexibility for service delivery. Teletherapy uses a virtual, yet HIPAA compliant platform(SimplePractice) to deliver confidential therapy services.

How should I prepare for my Teletherapy appointment?

  • Identify a suitable room that is quiet, private, and free of distractions to keep background noise to a minimum.

  • Consider hanging a “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door to avoid interruptions.

  • Sessions will NOT occur while driving/grooming/shopping, etc.

  • Limit distractions by putting phone/devices on silent or do not disturb.

  • Utilize a laptop, when available, or have a stand for your phone/tablet.

  • Feel free to take notes during the session.

Is Teletherapy private?

Just like a face-to-face/in-office sessions, your Teletherapy visit will be private and confidential. Therapy sessions will never be recorded or stored.

Is teletherapy right for me?

Unfortunately, teletherapy is not appropriate for everyone. Some mental health concerns are best supported in face-to-face settings. During our initial time together, we will decide if teletherapy is right for you.
